English Learner Specialist

The English Learner Specialist will facilitate the development of instructional staff through professional learning experiences which support instructional best practices and continued professional growth. 

1. Collaborate with state ESOL Program Director and content area specialists to integrate supports and considerations for English Learners into professional development initiatives provided by the state and/or educational cooperatives to classroom teachers, instructional support staff, and administrators.

2. Support educators working with English Learners in additional educational cooperatives in collaboration with state ESOL Program Director and additional EL Specialist located at another educational cooperative.

3. Develop and present professional learning experiences for classroom teachers, administrators and instructional support staff focused on supporting a diverse population including English Learners.

4. Provide job embedded professional learning to support instruction for English Learners.

5. Model, coach and support implementation of lessons and instructional strategies and assist teachers with supporting a diverse population including English Learners.

6. Attend and participate in department, staff and instructional meetings regularly.

7. Model the use of data to drive instructional and professional learning decisions.

8. Promote positive atmosphere.

 Regarding job requirements:

 Must have ESL Endorsement with a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience with English Learners.

  • Demonstrate teacher leadership skills as well as skill in developing and presenting professional learning.
  • Strong ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

The Dawson Education Cooperative is taking applications for a K-12 mathematics specialist. This person will be housed at Dawson Co-op in Arkadelphia and serve our 22 member districts.  Minimum qualifications include three or more years of classroom teaching experience,knowledge of current research, effective instructional practices, and assessment.  Additionally, applicant must have job experience in professional development delivery and teacher support. 

Note:  Applicants will be asked to do a 5 to 8 minute presentation on any current topic in the area of mathematics to demonstrate presentation skills.
