The goals are to provide meaningful, ongoing professional development (PD) and support for K-12 teachers, which focuses on professional learning practice that increases educator effectiveness and therefore increases student understanding of science phenomenon.

The PD andsupport uses research-basedmethods that mirror those needed in the classroom and are designed to

  • ·        Enhance instructional practices
  • ·        Support inquiry science
  • ·        Build reading and writing skills & strategies set forth by Common Core State Standards for Literacy in Science, & Technical Subjects
  • ·        Prepare teachers for the implementation of the New Arkansas Science Standards
  • ·        Build content and pedagogical content knowledge, skills and practice
  • ·        Facilitatethe development of professional learning communities
  • ·        Support teacher leadership
  • ·        Align with state and district priorities.

Upcoming Events

1. The First Annual Ouachita Mountains Regional Science & Engineering Fair (OMRSEF) will be held in February 2017 at the Mid-America Museum inHot Springs and is open to high school students (grades 9-12) attending schools in these eleven counties: * Saline * Hot Spring * Garland * Clark * Montgomery * Polk * Pike * Howard * Grant * Dallas * Sevier There will be a town hall meeting for high school teachers and administrators at the Mid America Science Museum in Hot Springs on Monday, September 12, 4:30-6:30 PM. There will be information about the fair and the new Arkansas high school science courses, and REFRESHMENTS! Participation is limited to 50 so please click the link below to reserve your spot.

2. Join us at Dawson Education Cooperative on September 26, in the Administrative Conference Room Building 1 from 3:30 - 6:30 pm to review and provide feedback about the proposed high school science standards. Please RSVP using this link –
